Filming and Location Application Permit in Thailand

Step 2: Submit Application and Documents
It involves the preparation and submission of the application form with all supporting documents by the local coordinator to the TFO. These documents should be complete and accurate to avoid delays.
Step 3: Document Review by TFO
The TFO meticulously reviews the submitted materials:
- If everything is in order, the application moves forward.
- Incomplete applications are sent back for corrections, delaying the process.
Step 4: Evaluation by the Committee
TFO then sends the application to the Film, Video and Digital Media Committee for its evaluation. It researches the project proposed and approves or rejects it.
Step 5: Decision Notification
Once the committee reaches a decision, the TFO informs the local coordinator, who liaises with relevant government agencies to address specific requirements.
Step 6: Coordination with Government Agencies
Several agencies are involved in facilitating the filming process, including:
- Royal Thai Embassies for visa arrangements.
- Immigration Bureau for stay extensions.
- Department of Employment for work permits.
- Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation for permits in protected areas.
- Fine Arts Department for filming in culturally significant locations.
Step 7: Location and Filming
A monitoring officer is assigned to oversee the locations and provide on-site support to ensure that filming is done in compliance with local regulations. Once all approvals are secured, production can officially commence.
